Qatar Spat Causes Flight Problems

A diplomatic spat between Qatar and six other neighbouring countries has caused flight delays and re-routings across the region.

Flights to and from Qatar have been suspended, with neighbours such as Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates withdrawing freedoms of the air from Qatar Airways, which normally allow national airlines to operate across international borders. The break in relations has effectively cut-off Qatar, severing land, sea, and air connections, with Qatar awkwardly placed to the northeast of UAE, under many international airways, which is resulting in re-routes.

The dispute is a result of the six countries involved saying that Qatar backs militant groups such as ISIS an al-Qaeda, which Qatar disputes.
